Online Classes and Seminars
In 1998 I was approached by various community education departments to see if I would be interested in teaching a class on investing in stocks. This was during the “Dotcom Mania” days where everybody wanted to invest in stocks, but community education was having problems with some of the local brokerages coming in and teaching “classes” that were not so much classes, as they were sales pitches to drum up more business. Since I had my degree in finance, but was teaching dance classes and therefore not affiliated with any brokerage or financial service firm, I ended up teaching a whole host of finance and investment classes simply because I was unbiased and independent.
Since then we’ve offered a multitude of different finance and investing seminars, designed for the average, everyday person. These classes include:
| The Analysis and Valuation of Stocks | A great class if you just plain simply want to learn how to analyze, evaluation and invest in stocks. |
| Figuring Out Your 401k | A class that goes above and beyond what your HR department will when covering your 401k, 403, 457 and other plans (this is one of the more popular ones) |
| Investing Online | Simple class where you learn how to pick a brokerage and how to invest online. |
| Modeling Credit Scores | This is tailored to banks who are interested in using credit scores to predict default and delinquencies. |
| The Art of Underwriting | Another class tailored towards banks who are looking to hone and improve their bankers’ and analysts’ underwriting skills |
In addition to the above seminars, I also offering online classes through a company called Education to Go. Though they do not have quite the personal touch, if you are busy and just want a good solid class on basic personal financial management or a more advanced class on investing in stocks, feel free to sign up. I offer two classes:
| “Stocks, Bonds Investing: Oh My!” | This is a very popular, introductory course to investing. It starts out with the basics and hand-holds you through all the various aspects of investing. I designed the class with the everyday person in mind so that it is not intimidating and above all else, MAKES SENSE! I would also STRONGLY encourage any younger people out there to sign up for this class because it can do a world of good for you in the future. |
| “The Analysis and Valuation of Stocks” | This is basically the online version of the in-person seminar. It is written very clear and concisely and conveys complex topics or subjects very clearly. Additionally it is written in an entertaining manner and is fun. This is my most popular class. |
Feel free to sign up for any of these classes, or if you have questions always feel free to contact me.
