Fossils
Originally just an obscure hobby of mine, it kind of took on a life of its own when I started hosting “The Great Twin Cities Fossil Hunt.” This fossil expedition is primarily for kids, but it is also a great chance for adults to get out, spend some quality time with their kids and live that secret dream you’ve always had of finding a fossil yourself. Additionally it’s a great educational experience, especially for those older kids interested in biology, archeology, paleontology and the sciences!
While the majority of my personal fossil hunting is down out west, The Great Twin Cities Fossil Hunt takes place at several fossil beds in the Twin Cities. We do not find things like dinosaurs or anything as exotic as that, but we do find various smaller water creatures like brachiopods and cephalopods. If you’re interested in joining up for a fossil hunt please feel free to contact me and I’ll let you know when the next “expedition” is!
Below are some pictures from previous fossil hunts and some of the finer specimens I’ve found in my various expeditions.
