I used to host a show on AM 1500 called “The Economics Supper Club.”

It was great. People learned a lot of about economics. We advanced people’s understanding of the federal budget. Taught people about the trade deficit with China. And we made economics sexy. Unfortunately the show was cancelled because AM 1500 got the broadcasting rights to the Minnesota Twins. So instead of insightful political commentary like;

“Well you see, Jim, the reason for the increase in the price of gas is not so much that oil has become more expense, but rather the value of the dollar has dropped, necessitating more dollars to buy that same barrel of oil.”

Now you can tune in and listen to middle age men blather:

“Well you see, Jim, Mike better start scoring more points, otherwise they won’t be able to win more games. And if Bob doesn’t throw the ball more to Steve, then Frank is going to have a hard time making a contribution to this team. Although there is hope in that Mark might be traded for Alex, which would certainly help Doug and the franchise, but I wouldn’t hold my breath as long as the coach Jones hopes to hold out for some new young blood like Phil to turn this team around.”

In any case the blog that complimented the show still goes on and delivers it’s quick and efficient daily dose of economic and witty political commentary.
